Dock & Brew opened in July 2026 at 352B St Mary's Road, bringing an independent speciality coffee shop to the historic river community of Garston in South Liverpool. Founded by a local family team, the café transformed a former commercial blinds showroom into a light-filled neighbourhood meeting spot serving dialled-in espresso, artisan pastries, and freshly prepared daytime food.
What Dock & Brew does
The café operates as a neighbourhood hub designed to serve both early-morning commuters and leisurely daytime visitors. Opening at 7:00am on weekdays, the counter serves trade workers, train commuters heading towards Liverpool South Parkway, and local residents. The interior features contemporary timber tables, white tiled walls, soft ambient lighting, and high bar seating along the front windows overlooking St Mary’s Road.
Coffee, tea and artisan pastries
The coffee program is anchored by beans roasted by Allpress Espresso, pulled through a two-group commercial machine for flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos and Americanos. For non-coffee drinkers, the bar prepares ceremonial matcha lattes, spiced chai, loose-leaf English breakfast and herbal teas, and iced fruit coolers.
The bakery counter highlights independent Merseyside food makers. Rather than using frozen industrial suppliers, the shop partners with Liverpool bakery specialists including The Butterholic. Counter stock changes daily, regularly featuring:
- Laminated butter croissants and pain au chocolat
- Custard-filled and chocolate cruffins
- Cardamom and cinnamon morning buns
- Gluten-free brownies and seasonal fruit traybakes
Breakfast rolls, toasties and lunch
The kitchen focuses on simple, freshly prepared comfort food served throughout the day:
- Hot Morning Rolls: Soft floured baps filled with thick-cut British bacon, butcher pork sausages, or fried free-range eggs.
- Artisan Sourdough Toasties: Golden grilled sourdough sandwiches stuffed with mature cheddar and balsamic onion chutney, cured salt beef and Swiss cheese, or vegan mozzarella and roasted tomato.
- Loaded Bagels: Toasted bagels topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon, or smashed avocado with chilli flakes.
- Midday Specials: Rotating warming soups served with buttered crusty bread.
The story behind 352B St Mary's Road
Garston historically possessed a thriving village commercial centre that gradually declined with the loss of traditional retail. In recent years, local entrepreneurs have begun revitalising St Mary’s Road with independent businesses.
The premises at 352B had sat as an uninviting blinds showroom before the family took over the lease in early 2026. Stripping back suspended ceiling tiles and outdated partitions revealed a generous corner space with natural light from two sides, which was refitted using recycled materials and energy-efficient appliances.
