L1Local is an independent digital publication covering Liverpool news, practical city guides, neighbourhoods, independent businesses and history. Our reporting is grounded, factual and useful to the people who live, work and spend time in Merseyside.

What we publish

We focus on Liverpool news, council decisions, public transport, urban development, neighbourhood life, local independent businesses, cultural events and Liverpool history. We do not publish clickbait, regional boosterism, or promotional advertising disguised as editorial content.

Sourcing and primary records

Wherever possible, our articles are checked against reliable primary sources: Liverpool City Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, GOV.UK, NHS bodies, transport operators, official planning applications, Companies House, police records and historical archives. We clearly distinguish between confirmed facts, proposals, estimates, opinions and unverified claims.

Our authors and contributors

Every article published on L1Local is attributed to a named author or to the collaborative editorial team. You can meet our Liverpool-based contributors and read their bios and coverage on our Authors and Editorial Team page.

Advertising, sponsored content and directory policy

Liverpool independent businesses are central to our work. We maintain a free independent business directory. Businesses cannot pay for an editorial recommendation or directory inclusion. We research listings independently and decide what gets published.

Where content is sponsored or contains an affiliate link (such as ticketing partnerships via LoveToVisit), that relationship is clearly disclosed at the point it appears. Advertising looks like advertising; editorial remains independent.

Updates and corrections

When an article changes substantially, we display a visible updated date rather than changing timestamps to make older pages look fresh. If we make a factual mistake, we correct it promptly. For full details on our correction process, read our Corrections Policy.
