Liverpool Markets and Street Food: A Local Guide
A practical guide to Liverpool's regular markets, farmers' markets and Baltic street food, with current council links and clear planning advice.
Liverpool's markets do different jobs. Some run every week, some are tied to a permanent venue, and others appear only on set dates. Check the organiser's current listing before travelling.
The council's current list does not include every market named in older Liverpool guides. Use the live pages below for opening days, locations and cancellations.
Liverpool's main markets
- Baltic Market: a permanent street-food hall with changing traders.
- Great Homer Street Market: Liverpool's large Saturday general market.
- Garston, Monument Place and Tuebrook: regular local markets on set weekdays.
- Lark Lane, Woolton and Allerton: farmers' and craft markets on published dates.
- St George's Hall: seasonal markets rather than a weekly fixture.
Baltic Market for a food-hall visit
Baltic Market sits inside Cains Brewery Village on Stanhope Street. Its website lists the current food traders, drinks offer and booking information.
The trader list changes, so choose it for the shared seating and range of kitchens rather than one dish you saw in an old post. Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest periods. Check opening times before heading to the Baltic Triangle.

Great Homer Street Market on Saturdays
Great Homer Street Market, known as Greatie, runs indoors and outdoors at Great Homer Street, L5 5AB. The council's Greatie page lists Saturday opening hours, bus routes, parking and facilities.
This is a general market rather than a food festival. Expect clothing, homeware, fresh produce and hot and cold food stalls. Arrive with a shopping list or time to browse.
Regular council markets around Liverpool
Liverpool City Council's live markets page currently lists:
- Stanley Park Market: Wednesdays, except when an LFC match affects the site.
- Garston Market: Fridays on Speke Road.
- Monument Place Market: Tuesday to Thursday on London Road.
- Tuebrook Market and car boot sale: Thursdays and Saturdays on West Derby Road.
- University Square Street Food Market: term-time dates published by the council.
Times and seasonal breaks differ. Follow the council link on the day rather than copying the hours into your calendar months ahead.
Farmers' and craft markets
The council also publishes dates for Lark Lane, Woolton Village, Allerton Road and Allerton Hall at Clarke Gardens. These are date-based markets, not weekly fixtures.
Lark Lane combines food producers and craft stalls close to Sefton Park. Woolton and Allerton dates suit a South Liverpool visit, but the locations are separate. Pick one rather than trying to join them into a single route.

Seasonal city-centre markets
St George's Hall hosts seasonal artisan markets on selected dates. The council publishes the dates and opening hours on its St George's Hall market page.
Other pop-up markets can use churches, halls and public spaces. Confirm the organiser, exact entrance and date before travelling. A social post from last year is not a timetable.

- Check whether the event is weekly, monthly or seasonal.
- Confirm the location because touring markets move.
- Take more than one payment method.
- Read the venue's access and dog policy if either affects your visit.
